Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The performance marks a return to the stage for the rapper, who previously closed his 'Jay-Z 30' concert run in the same venue over the weekend. This event serves as the finale for a tour that began with three shows at Yankee Stadium in New York and continued in London before concluding in Southern California.
The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation made the announcement Monday night. The release included a short video showing Jay-Z sitting in SoFi Stadium surrounded by goats, accompanied by the caption 'GOAT's out of the bag.' This follows days of speculation regarding the featured performer for the upcoming game.
Roc Nation has partnered with the NFL since 2019 to advise on and produce the league's entertainment presentations. At the start of that partnership, Jay-Z told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, 'If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now.' Seven years later, the agreement has resulted in his first headline appearance at the event.
Since 2019, other headlining performers have included Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd. Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, holds 25 Grammy Awards and has received 89 nominations. This nomination count ranks second in history, behind his wife, Beyoncé, who has performed at two Super Bowls.
His musical catalog includes albums such as 'Reasonable Doubt,' 'The Blueprint,' and 'The Black Album.' Notable tracks include 'Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem),' '99 Problems,' and 'Empire State of Mind,' a collaboration with Alicia Keys. His 1996 debut album, 'Reasonable Doubt,' was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame last year.
Beyond music, Jay-Z has expanded his career into publishing, artist management, and sports. He co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and established Roc Nation in 2008, which now works with various artists and athletes. In 2017, he became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and he joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
